Arash Shiva

I build products and companies at the intersection of AI, marketplaces, and commerce.

My focus is designing and building systems that efficiently allocate resources while balancing growth, risk, and user trust.

My work spans marketplaces and commerce, from OpenCal helping small businesses fill unused capacity, to leading product design at Groupon, and now at ShareGrid, the largest sharing economy marketplace for creatives. Across these, the core problem has been consistent: making real-time decisions about who gets access to what, at what price, and under what level of risk.

Looking ahead, I’m interested in how these systems evolve as agents begin to transact on behalf of users. This raises the bar for decision quality, as systems need to reason not just about risk and pricing, but also about intent, trust, and long-term outcomes.

I grew up in Seattle (where I currently reside with my wife and two sons), and have lived in Vancouver, B.C. and San Francisco. My personality type is INTJ.

Capabilities

Product Building & Decision Design

Building products that shape real-time decisions around access, pricing, and user outcomes. Focused on turning ambiguous problems into simple, testable experiences grounded in clear product judgment. Comfortable working across product, design, and engineering to move from concept to proof quickly.

Identity, Fraud & Trust Systems

Designing systems to distinguish legitimate from adversarial behavior as digital actors become more autonomous. Focused on intent, signal quality, and minimizing friction while protecting users and preserving trust. Preparing for a shift toward agent-driven interactions.

Product Strategy & Leadership

Setting direction in ambiguous spaces, aligning cross-functional teams, scaling product organizations, and driving clear priorities across complex, multi-stakeholder environments. Financial modeling and unit economics analysis to inform strategy and decision-making.

AI-Native Product Development

Leveraging prompt-driven workflows and rapid prototyping to explore product directions quickly. Using prototypes to build conviction early, explore more ideas, and pressure-test flows before production.
